NOTICE OF RACE
1. ORGANISING AUTHORITY
1.1. The Organising Authority for the Regatta is the Committee of the Fisherrow Yacht
Club, 97 New Street, Musselburgh EH21 6DG.
1.2. All enquiries and entries should be addressed to the Regatta Manager: Barbara
Robertson social@fisherrowyachtclub.com.
2. RULES
2.1. All races will be sailed under the current RRS 2017 - 2020 except as amended and
added to by the Sailing Instructions, the Prescriptions of the RYA and Class Rules.
All one-design classes shall comply with Class Association rules.
2.2. The Regatta will be a Category ‘C’ event.
3. ELIGIBILITY
3.1. Handicaps will be based on the FYCA handicaps, but may be altered at the
discretion of the Race Committee. A yacht entering the Regatta without a handicap
will be given one by the Race Committee.
3.2. The Committee reserves the right to reject or rescind any entry in accordance with
RRS76.1. To cancel, combine, divide, or alter the classes at their discretion. To
make any alteration to the sailing instructions they consider necessary.
3.3. Yachts shall belong or be chartered to and under the control of members of a club
affiliated to the RYA. For the duration of this event, all persons taking part will be
granted temporary membership of Fisherrow YC.

5. ENTRIES
5.1. The entry form will be available on the FYC website, from the Regatta Manager and
from the Clubhouse.
5.1.1. The latest time for entries is 14:00 on Saturday 31st August
5.2. The fees for the regatta are £5 per entry.
5.3. By agreement with East Lothian Council, berthing charges for visiting yachts in
Fisherrow Harbour have been waived for competing yachts, on Friday 30th and
Saturday 31st August.
6. RESPONSIBILITY AND INSURANCE
The safety of a boat and its entire management, including insurance, shall be the sole
responsibility of the owner/entrant. The organisers shall not be liable for any loss, damage,
death or personal injury, howsoever caused, to the owner, his skipper or crew as a result of
their taking part in the Regatta. Every owner warrants the suitability of his boat for the
Regatta. All boats taking part in the Regatta must have insurance cover against Third Party
and Public Liability for an amount of at least £3,000,000.
7. SCORING AND PRIZES
7.1. Scoring will use the Low Point System.
7.2. Prizes will be awarded to the top three boats.
7.3. Average laps will be used for all races.
8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing instructions will be made available on the FYC website and will be available on race
day in the FYC Clubhouse.
9. BERTHING
9.1. Yachts will be berthed on the East Pier at Fisherrow Harbour. Some rafting may be
necessary and so adequate fenders will be required.
9.2. All yachts using the harbour during the event must comply with the instructions given
by the Harbour Master.
10. SOCIAL
Filled rolls, tea and coffee will be available on Saturday from 12:30 and on Sunday from
13:00. Hot food will be provided after the sailing at a cost of £6 per person and the bar will
be open. On Saturday evening there will be a prize giving after racing and we encourage
musicians to dust off their party pieces and have a jam.
11. SAFETY EQUIPMENT
Yachts shall comply with FYCA Safety Regulations Category 4R. Full copies of these
regulations are available online at www.fyca.org.uk. Failure to comply will result in
disqualification from the Regatta. Competing yachts may be inspected at any time before or
after each day’s racing.
